Terms of Service

VAND is a personal-AI desktop application distributed by VAND. You download it from this website, install it on your Mac, and run it locally — the local AI model, your data, your free-form memories, all on your hardware. There is no account, no subscription required, and no server-side service to log in to.

Once installed, the app and the data file at ~/Library/Application Support/vand-desktop/vand.json are yours. You can back it up, copy it, delete it, or audit it. Removing the app or that file is the complete uninstall.

Don't reverse-engineer the unsigned distribution to ship a counterfeit installer under our name. Don't use the website or download API in ways that try to take it down (scraping at abusive rates, hammering the redirect, etc.).

VAND's daily briefings are generated by the bundled on-device AI model or a built-in rules engine. Output is pattern-matching on your own log data, treat it as a prompt for reflection, not medical or psychological advice.

We currently ship unsigned macOS and Windows installers because paid code-signing certificates are not yet justified for a free product. Your OS will warn you on first launch. The install instructions at /download explain the one-time bypass. If you don't trust an unsigned build, build from source.

VAND is provided as-is. We do our best to keep your local data safe (see /security) but we are not liable for data loss, missed insights, decisions you make based on the app's output, or any indirect or consequential damages.

If we change these terms, we'll note it in the release notes and on the website. There is no email list and no account flag to update.
