VAND is built by one person.
A one-person project — no parent company, no investors, and no acquisition path.
VAND is built and maintained by Quentin Vandorme, a solo founder based in France. There is no team, no parent company, no investors, and no acquisition path — and there will not be one.
That is not a missing piece of the story. It IS the story. A personal AI cannot have a business model that requires extracting from its user. Every AI you use today — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Siri, Apple Intelligence — is owned by a company whose growth depends on training on you, tuning for engagement, or storing your prompts. VAND is the first AI that structurally cannot become that.
Concretely: VAND runs on your Windows PC. It uses a local LLM and stores everything you log in a single AES-256-GCM-encrypted file at %APPDATA%\vand-desktop\vand.json. There is no VAND server, no user account, no analytics, no telemetry, no third-party SDK that touches your data. The app's network surface is limited to the model download, update checks, and its local AI engine on your own machine.
I'm building this in public on GitHub. If you have feedback, a bug, or a question, email me directly at vand.app.ai@gmail.com — I answer everything personally.
